Roses and Dahlias

Sometimes when we go on holiday I take painting kit - and flowers. I've learnt that if I have my paints, I will miss my flowers, so I take both along, as well as a favourite jug. This picture was painted in a cottage in the hills near Dolgellau. There are lots of low intensity colours and sultry reds and magentas.  Perhaps this painting would suit being in a bedroom. There is a sense of movement between the light and the distant shadows. I also felt like I slipped into a dreamlike  state when I was painting it.

Signed in lower right hand corner of picture. Ready to hang.
