Eggs, Roses and a Scarlet Scarf
£2,500.00
From a distance this picture is impressionist and dreamy. Close up it is earthy and all about the materials, paint and surface. I feel there's something of the experience of keeping an allotment (which is where the roses grew) in the scraped back layers and "diggings" of the palette knife. The colour palette includes a range of blues but the most intense hues are the reds, magentas and contrasting blue greens. There are scraped back areas where violet and magenta shines though, against dusky greys. A picture that celebrates sensuality, both in the textures and in the colour.
This painting is part of my exhibition "For Those Who Want to See Flowers". See the homepage for details of the exhibition.
